MY STORY
Advin Illa
ACTOR | FILMMAKER | U.S. ARMY VETERAN | MEDIA ENTREPRENEUR | FOUNDER AND CEO OF ICONIC ORIGINAL MEDIA
Advin Illa is a New York-based actor, filmmaker, U.S. Army veteran, and media entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of Iconic Original Media (IOM), an international ecosystem connecting media, entertainment, fashion, luxury, business, hospitality, emerging talent, and experiential storytelling.
Advin’s journey is defined by resilience, creative ambition, and disciplined leadership. At 17, while still in high school, he became a father and raised his son as a single parent. The experience developed the responsibility, determination, and emotional intelligence that would later shape his work as an artist, veteran, executive, and entrepreneur.
After graduating, Advin served in the United States Army as a combat photographer and filmmaker. He received specialized training at the Defense Information School (DINFOS) and was deployed to Iraq, where he participated in more than 500 humanitarian and military missions.
Stationed at one of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces, Advin worked alongside military public affairs teams while documenting humanitarian, diplomatic, and operational initiatives. His first mission included working alongside Samantha Power, who later became one of the United States’ leading diplomatic and international affairs officials.
Following his military service, Advin received an opportunity to join the White House photography team during the Obama administration. He ultimately chose to pursue advertising, earning a degree in the field and building more than a decade of experience across luxury, entertainment, and global brand campaigns.
His advertising career included working on a major Super Bowl advertising campaign, giving him experience in high-level commercial production, brand storytelling, and large-scale media execution.
Despite his success in advertising, Advin remained committed to his original passion: acting and filmmaking. His introduction to the professional entertainment industry included working as a personal assistant to Hugh Jackman and his family, where he gained firsthand insight into the preparation, discipline, and longevity required to sustain a world-class acting career.
Advin later pursued formal acting training at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, T. Schreiber Studio, HB Studio, and The Barrow Group. Through this training, he developed an acting approach grounded in psychological realism, emotional truth, character development, and lived experience.
During the pandemic, Advin expanded his creative practice by studying at the New York School of Interior Design. He later applied his visual perspective to the design of luxury residences and hospitality spaces for private clients.
Founder and CEO of Iconic Original Media
In 2025, Advin founded Iconic Style Magazine, which became the foundation for Iconic Original Media, also known as IOM.
Under Advin’s leadership, IOM has evolved from a luxury editorial publication into an international media, entertainment, and experiential ecosystem. Its portfolio includes Iconic Style, Iconic Society, Iconic Escapes, Rising Icons, Iconic Table, Iconic Events, and the Beyond the Cover podcast.
Together, these platforms connect fashion, culture, entrepreneurship, travel, hospitality, entertainment, emerging talent, branded partnerships, live experiences, and original content.
Iconic Original Media distributes content across more than 139 countries and approximately 40,000 digital distribution points, with a potential ecosystem reach of approximately 30 million viewers.
Advin’s vision for IOM extends beyond traditional publishing. The company is being developed as a multidimensional platform where media exposure becomes a gateway to strategic relationships, commercial opportunities, talent development, entertainment production, brand partnerships, events, and international expansion.
Acting and Film Career
As an actor, Advin recently appeared in The Fight, a dramatic production inspired by real and imagined experiences surrounding the Iraq War. The project received a theatrical presentation at the Angelika in New York and featured performers connected to The Actors Studio.
The role allowed Advin to bring together his military experience and professional acting training in a personal exploration of conflict, resilience, survival, and human connection.
His work as an actor and filmmaker reflects his commitment to emotionally grounded stories examining identity, transformation, resilience, and the human consequences of war.
Advocacy and Public Service
Beyond entertainment and business, Advin Illa is an advocate for veterans, immigrant communities, equality, representation, and social justice.
His long-term vision includes deeper civic engagement and a potential campaign for the United States Congress in 2032. This ambition represents a continuation of his commitment to public service and his desire to advocate for communities whose experiences are frequently overlooked.
From becoming a single father as a teenager and serving as a combat photographer in Iraq to building an international media company and pursuing a career in film, Advin Illa’s story is one of resilience, reinvention, leadership, and meaningful impact.
